WHY DO WE ORGANIZE THE DUTCH NATIONAL RADIATION DAYS?

More and more we are surrounded by non ionizing electromagnetic radiation, mainly caused by the increasing quantity of electrical equipment in our living environment.

Scientific research proves that there is a relationship between exposure to electromagnetic radiation and health problems. Other studies seem to prove theopposite: researchers do not yet agree about the (possible) biological effects of electromagnetic radiation to our health. This is even more clear becausethere is hardly any long term (> 20 years) research available which proves what electromagnetic radiation does with our body. Many people compare thesituation of electromagnetic radiation now with asbestos and smoking in the past: it took several decades before the scientists all agreed that both asbestosand smoking affect our health in a very negative way.

Although there is still no scientific consensus about the effects of electromagnetic radiation to our health, so far the national and local authorities deny any negative effects although an increasing amount of people experiences health problems because of exposure to electromagnetic radiation.

We feel that the possible effects to our health, as a result of exposure to electromagnetic radiation, should get more attention and that precautionary measuresshould be taken until the effects of this kind of radiation are clear.

The Dutch National Radiation Day 2011 is a non profit event during which consumers, companies and professionals share their experiences with regard to exposure toelectromagnetic radiation. This may create more awareness and help people to make the right choices to create healthier living and working environments: untilthe scientists agree about the effects of radiation to our health we should take precautionary measures and diminish considerably the daily exposure to electromagnetic radiation. This can be realized quite easily and during the Radiation Days the ways in which this can be done will get extra attention.

Everybody is invited at the Dutch National Radiation Day 2011.
